Below are some of the frequently asked questions for your MOT test!
What is a MOT?
All vehicles over 3 years old, are required by law to have an MOT. The Ministry Of Transport test is an annual safety check to verify and ensure all vehicles on the UK roads pass a minimum standard safety and levels of exhaust emissions, as set by the government agency, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency.
What happens if my MOT fails?
If your car fails its MOT test, we provide a free retest within 10 working days providing all failure items have been resolved. At Leicester Motors we do MOT repairs.
How long will my MOT take?
The MOT test takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete. Leicester Motors is equipped with comfortable seating, so you can make yourself at home and we will carry out your MOT while you wait. If you wish, there is a viewing window to see the MOT test being carried on your vehicle.
When is the earliest I can do my MOT?
All MOT’s can be carried out up to one month prior to the expiry date of a current MOT certificate, provided that the current MOT certificate is presented when the car is brought in. On passing the MOT test, your car will receive a certificate valid from the date of expiry of your existing MOT certificate.
What do I need to bring with me?
The only thing you need to bring with you is the vehicle being tested! Our nominated tester will be able to look up your vehicle on the DVSA database to find the existing MOT details.
How can I check my MOT expiry date?
Your MOT expiry date will be located on your most recent MOT certificate. If you do not have this, you can check it the expiration date and MOT history on the gov website. Click the “Check Here” button to see where each of the previous MOT’s for your vehicle were been done and any failures or advisories that were presented.
